Youth Clubs

Every student at the Ashtabula County Joint Vocational School is a member of a career and technical student organization.  There are five different organizations, each student becomes a member of one of them depending upon each students career and technical program.  These programs provide opportunities for leadership development, social interaction, and skill development through local, state, and national competitions.

 

Ohio Future Educators Association (OFEA)
is an organization for middle school and high school youth interested in a career in education.

Business Professionals of America is a national student organization for students enrolled in business, office, and technology education programs.

DECA is a national association of marketing students that provides teachers and members with educational and leadership development activities to merge with the education classroom instructional program.

SkillsUSA is a national organization serving a quarter-million high school and college students and professional members who are enrolled in technical, skilled, and service occupations, including health occupations.

FFA is a non profit organization that is dedicated to making a positive difference in the lives of young people by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.

Future Educators of America is a national program for middle and high school students interested in exploring careers in education.

Family, Career and Community Leaders of America is a nonprofit national vocational student organization for young men and women in family and consumer sciences education in public and private school through grade 12.

National Honor Society

The National Honor Society is the nation's premier organization established to recognize outstanding high school students. More than just an honor roll, NHS serve to honor those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of Scholarship, Leadership, Service, and Character. These characteristics have been associated with membership in the organization since their beginnings in 1921 and 1929.  Requirements for being inducted into the National Honor Society is outlined in the Student Handbook.

 

Intramural Athletics

In the fall of each school year a double elimination outdoor volleyball tournament is held.  Teams are formed from each career and technical program that wants to participate and games are held during that programs lunch period. 

In the spring of each school year a double elimination softball tournament is head.  Teams are formed from each career and technical program that wants to participate and games are held during that programs lunch period.  Softball games normally last twenty minutes with some modifications to the normal rules of the game.  For example each team is permitted to pitch to their own team members, each batter has the opportunity to hit one pitch for each time at bat.  The ball is either hit in fair territory or the batter is out.
