Electricity Plug into a Powerful Career
The Electricity program at the ACJVS focuses on the study of the sources, control, measurements, and applications of electrical power used in residential, commercial, and industrial settings.
Students learn in a technical lab setting and in off-campus job sites following the National
Electrical Code (NEC) and National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) curriculum fundamentals. Students also have the opportunity to gain knowledge of controls and aptitudes in assembling motors and generators, reading blueprints and wiring diagrams, and troubleshooting and repairing electrical systems.
Students in the ACJVS Electricity program have the opportunity to gain an OSHA 10 hour General Industry Blue Card, National Core Curriculum Certification, Residential Electrical I Certification, and to test for NEC Residential Electrician Licensing prior to graduation.
The Electricity program prepares its graduates to go directly on the job as an electrician’s helper, industrial electrician, construction electrician, residential wireman, or electrical contractor. Many graduates apply for entry into apprenticeship programs.
