Teacher Academy The Education for a Career in Education
The Teacher Academy program is designed for college prep high school seniors interested in pursuing a career in teaching.
Through a curriculum that includes both instructional techniques and real world teaching experience, students gain a broad understanding of the teaching profession prior to investing in expensive college classes.
Articulation agreements between the ACJVS and Baldwin-Wallace College, Lake Erie College, Ursuline College, Edinboro University, Mount Vernon Nazarene University, Ohio University, Walsh University, Youngstown State University, and University of Cincinnati can provide a seamless transition to post-secondary education. More colleges and universities soon may be added to our growing list of college partners who offer qualifying students free college credit.
Students enrolled in the Teacher Academy program have the opportunity to develop skills in planning, instruction, creating an effective classroom environment, and professionalism. Students will also gain a broad base of educational experience by interning in classrooms within their home school district.
Beginning with classroom instruction on learning styles and classroom methods, students will progress toward working side by side with an experienced teacher/mentor. Students will rotate through various classrooms and educational levels to develop an appreciation of the challenges and rewards each educational setting provides.
Enrollment in the Teacher Academy program is limited to high school seniors attending a participating high school. Participants in the Teacher Academy program are required to provide their own transportation.
