Dear Parent/Guardian:
The ACJVS staff is looking forward to serving you and your son/daughter during the 2010-2011 school year. One of the issues we know we will be working with is student possession of cell phones. We realize that cell phones are an important part of life today. However, the use/possession of cell phones in school is not appropriate, nor permitted.
You may review the school policy in the Student Handbook under rule number 19. Specifically, the rule provides that, pagers, cellular phones and any other type of electronic communication devices are not permitted on school grounds or at school activities. “These items will be confiscated.” The school is not responsible for any loss or destruction of cellular phones or any other electronic device the student brings to school.
However, if a parent wishes that their child have a cellular phone, the student may turn the phone into the Principal’s office before school and retrieve it at the end of the school day. Further, students who drive to school may leave the cell phones locked in their vehicles.
If your son or daughter has his/her cell phone confiscated and a parent or guardian is unable to retrieve the cell phone from the Principal’s office, it will be held for 5 days before being returned to the student.
We look forward to your cooperation in this matter. Your child’s success is important to us. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at (440) 576-6015 ext. 1014.
Cordially,
Paul Stofan
Dean of Students
