The Ashtabula County Joint Vocational School District has been an integral part of Northeast Ohio in providing skill training for area youth and adults since 1969. Since 1969 more than 23,000 high school students and 32,000 adult students have received training at the Ashtabula County Joint Vocational School.

The center is recognized and respected for its diversified programs, qualified and caring staff, and successful placement and retraining of individuals in the workforce. Community surveys conducted by Gordon Black Corporation of Rochester, New York and Burges & Burges Corporation of Cleveland have clearly demonstrated that the parents, community, and industry within Northeast Ohio, and specifically Ashtabula County, have a high regard for the quality of training given within our state-of-the-art facilities.

The Ashtabula County Joint Vocational School serves junior and senior high school students from ten participating schools, including Conneaut, Edgewood, Geneva, Grand Valley, Howland, Jefferson, Lakeside, Ledgemont, Pymatuning Valley, and Saints John & Paul.

Increased Earning Power. A recent Ohio study of career and technical school graduates shows that within three years they were earning from 13 to 47% more than high school graduates without career-technical education. National longitude studies have shown that graduates of career-technical education have advanced more rapidly than those who graduated from a comprehensive high school without career-technical education.

21 Programs & 93%+ Job Placement. Each year, all high school sophomores are encouraged to explore our twenty-one Career and Technical programs and to select as a focus of study that program which best matches their talents, skills and interests. At the conclusion of our two-year programs students receive a career passport that verifies completion of the specific career-technical area and confirms their skill abilities to perspective employers. More than 93.7% of the students are successfully placed in the workforce upon the completion of the specific program requirements.

Specialized Adult Training Programs. The Ashtabula County Joint Vocational School also offers excellent workforce development programs for adults who are interested in obtaining a skill and/or re-training for career advancement. Each year more than 300 adults take advantage of skill training and skill enhancement offerings extended through our Workforce Development Office. Adult students can select on-site/full-time programs, part-time programs, or customized specialty programs. A high employment placement rate for nursing, cosmetology and business office programs completed by students make the Workforce Development Office a valuable asset to residents, employees and employers in Ashtabula County and Northeast Ohio.

More Than A School. The Ashtabula County Joint Vocational School is recognized as a valuable community center. Centrally located in Jefferson, Ohio, the ACJVS provides many organizations and individuals with convenient and quality facilities for craft shows, pancake dinners, banquets, meetings, seminars, receptions, and community forums. The ACJVS campus also serves as the location for the annual Family A-Fair event.

The Ashtabula County Joint Vocational School is respected for successfully meeting the educational and skill training needs of the community. The Ashtabula County Joint Vocational School is celebrating excellence by being a significant component in a progressive, educated and skilled community.
